Bad weather for wheat farmers.

At the end of May the FT sent me to photograph wheat farmer Ben Taylor in Sussex.  The farm has had only 12mm of rain since March and the crop at best will only produce 50% of its usual yield.  The average rainfall for the same period is 180mm.  Ben was great to meet. He took me on a hair-raising journey up steep farm tracks to his fields on the top of the downs. It was good to hear that when he drove the bomb disposal squad up the track, to diffuse an old WW2 bomb, they were equally uneasy!Ben Taylor, Wheat Farmer, Iford Farm, Lewes, East Sussex - BN7 3EU Ben Taylor, Wheat Farmer, Iford Farm, Lewes, East Sussex - BN7 3EU Ben Taylor, Wheat Farmer, Iford Farm, Lewes, East Sussex - BN7 3EU Ben Taylor, Wheat Farmer, Iford Farm, Lewes, East Sussex - BN7 3EU Ben Taylor, Wheat Farmer, Iford Farm, Lewes, East Sussex - BN7 3EU Ben Taylor, Wheat Farmer, Iford Farm, Lewes, East Sussex - BN7 3EUBen Taylor, Wheat Farmer, Iford Farm, Lewes, East Sussex - BN7 3EU Ben Taylor, Wheat Farmer, Iford Farm, Lewes, East Sussex - BN7 3EU Ben Taylor, Wheat Farmer, Iford Farm, Lewes, East Sussex - BN7 3EU Ben Taylor, Wheat Farmer, Iford Farm, Lewes, East Sussex - BN7 3EU
